Mike McGibney - Composer
As well as tutoring music students in composition,I also write and release material under my own name.
My influences include film composers such as Thomas Newman, James Horner and Harry Gregson-Williams, choral composers including Eric Whitacre and Merton Lauridson, 20th Century English composers such as Ralph Vaughn-Williams, Edward Elgar, Gustav Holst, Sir Karl Jenkins and Michael Tippet. More contemporary influences include Joni Mitchell, Sting and Bruce Hornsby.
I particularly enjoy writing for orchestra and choir, but also love solo piano. I record and mix using Logic Pro X, and score in Musescore. Some of my preferred VST plugins include Spitfire Audio’s BBC Symphony Orchestra, Eric Whitacre Choir and the Ravenscroft 275 Piano.
Please feel free to check out some of my compositions below!
